Because of a traffic accident that the Hash Bus was peripherally involved in, the planned Red Dress Run was abandoned and the bus Hashers were forced to return to town.
Thanks to the efforts of Squealing Pig, a substitute run was quickly organised. This involved a pub crawl, starting from The Underground and stopping off at a couple of bia hoi joints (bia hoi is the local draught beer - the locals raise thousands of diabetic horses bred for the the sole purpose of supplying these establishments) before finishing up at the Pacific Beer Garden up near the foreigner ghetto. The second leg would have to be the shortest leg in Saigon Hash history - about a hundred meters.
The down-downs were held at the Pacific, with virgins and visitors welcomed (Hash spy Greybeard from Hanoi H3 got a particularly torrid welcome) and various sinners punished. The latter included the hares (on general principal), Pencil Dick (for combining bad taste and clairvoyancy in naming the run "The Better Red Than Dead Run") and the usual suspects and perpetrators whose names and sins have evaporated from memory (Hash Stats was feeling the effects of a pub crawl and a couple of down-downs at this point).
