Hashing: Discovering amazing trails around Saigon like no one else
Every morning I get hit by the same bike. Its a vicious cycle.
Date:11/11 /2018 Location: Thanh Da Island
The hares for last weeks run were Rock Bottom, Sloe Gin, Pole Polisher and Mr Purple who supposed to be keeping a careful eye on the walkers.
We had a great turn out of 31 hashers, many new faces and also returnees, including a North Korean spy who gave the game away with his Koryo tours running shirt and looked like a Magician.
Your GM had earlier been to Rememberance service at the British Consulate, and had learnt about brave people in WW1 such as Edith Cavell and Edgar Mobbs - do look them up - before proceeding to a buffet lunch at the Sheraton. A glass or 3 of champagne later, we all met at Tu Tri restaurant in Thanh Da Island, with the big elephant in the car park for a cross country run around the mangroves in the hidden heart of Saigon.
Fukoffee was faced with a high fence to climb, but was far too pissed and had to climb through a hedge instead. There was a beer stop on the other side of the fence - like a carrot to get everyone else over it.
Pole Polisher proceeded to take the walkers for a second loop of the island while Mr Purple was far too busy playing with his friend to notice. Luckily the energetic running hares were able to steer them back to the restaurant in time for the circle and feast by the river.
Trung, a lawyer who has hashed with us 10 times, joined the brethren by being named 'Sir Lies Alot' - no need to explain more ;-)
We had the largest group of hashers around a dinner table this year and so much food that what we couldn't eat - Sloe Gin had to take home and give to all the cleaners in the apartment block to wear. It was a beautiful night and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
That's all for this week.
Fukoffee signing off.
